UK tax deductibles question
« on: January 23, 2015, 05:28:31 PM »
I'm new to this forum and the first thing I do is ask a really boring question - apologies!

I'm completing my first ever tax return having set up a part time photography business. Really, the income from this is minimal, I just do it as a little hobby to help fund my camera equipment desires. I'm not engaging an accountant (that would cost more than the income!) but I want to get some advice on whether all of the following things can legitimately be included as deductibles. I'd really appreciate any help from those experienced in completing self-assessments! Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Website domain registration
  • Annual payment for my website hosting
  • Background support stand
  • Photography background paper
  • 18% grey balance tri-card
  • Bounce diffuser for flash
  • Reflector
  • Photography props
  • Second hand lens
  • Monthly Adobe software subscription {Photoshop & Lightroom}

Great, thanks Andrew.

I suppose I would use the lens for personal use if I ever actually got the time to do any personal work!
